RARE 1600s Seneca (Iroquois) Trade Beads in Red & Gold (color)

$1,800.00

17th Century Seneca (1655-1675) Trade Bead necklace in red and gold

Approx 8 x 5 inches as pictured.

Discovered at the Dann Archaeological Site in New York, USA. Also known archaeologically as Totiakton II.

The Dann Site is a major historic Seneca Iroquois village and archaeological site located in Mendon Township, Monroe County, New York, near Honeoye Falls. Habitated from approximately 1655 to 1675 CE, it is considered the former Seneca village of Gandachioragon and remains highly notable for yielding significant early contact-era artifacts.

In 1668, Jesuit missionaries established the mission La Conception at this village, the first among the Seneca. The site is historically noted for producing a large volume of trade items and indigenous artifacts. Notable finds include Madison triangle arrowheads, shell beads, brass and copper triangles, gun flints, and deer effigy bone combs.
